Dreaming in the Immensity of It

(C) R.L.K.

A big moon over
the highway on an
August night. Wild
wind whistling while cars
cut through air heavy
with unshed rain. As
summer rushes to end,
we rush to what end, hours
before midnight, and already
rolling on tomorrow's road?

What's Already Happening

(C) R.L.K.

a rain that seems
  to have always been
    falling, a night
      of breezy whispers;

there’s just
  this to do:
    listen
       at the window,

 watch shadows
    drift
       in the weakly-lit
          courtyard

while big
   round
      drops
         shimmer in the wind

Two Haiku

(C) R.L.K.

1.
Quiet attention --
that shadow at the window:
a fluttering leaf.

2.
Windy misty day --
willow blossoms are flying
in all directions.

Impromptu

(C) R.L.K.

among
   the pines     the wind ---
a
misty
rain
this
morning;      a tree
                            swaying    high
                                              above /

& the wind flows through time
& the sound of the wind is everywhere

    & now you’ve heard
                                         everything

So

(C) R.L.K.

This simplicity is
what the world returns to:
just a few long-gone-brown
leaves strewn along the path;
a thin layer of ice
sliding slowly back and
forth on the surface of
the old pond, reflecting
the quite-bright sunlight of
a Sunday afternoon.

How It's Going

(C) R.L.K.

Yet another autumn.
Days, as usual,
slipping away, as is
today. Sad sound

of rain on dropped leaves
blown onto the rails,
then add the whistle
of yet another train gone

'round the bend, bound
for some place that's
no place where days
won't slip away too.

Early Today

(C) R.L.K.

chilly morning
  full with forethought
   of rain ;

       clouds   roll   aloft
                       over
                         the
                           little
                            hill   /

      leaf & leaf-shadow
                    lost in a wind-gust
