The clouds have parted
and now the moonlight pours down,
making the raindrops,
still clinging to the branches
of the trees, shine like silver.

1. Such Weather

It's all wind and snow
swirling outside today, with
nearness and farness
merging beneath a white sky
almost too low to be sky.

2. Quite a While

Winter sunlight shines
down on the weathered roof of
a small town depot,
slowly melting last night's snow --
the next train is hours away!

What to Consider

The morning sun breaks
through the clouds and now
the drenched grass glistens 
and tiny raindrops
on the silver leaves
of the poplar tree
turn into bright pearls.

Spring Morning

Deep gray clouds, and mist;
willows turning gauzy green;
with a fluttering
of tiny wings, swift young birds
rise darkly against the sky.

Winter Words

A smooth silvery
sky over the lamplit streets
at dusk; a few small
snowflakes quietly falling
as I walk the last mile home.

September Mood

Against the gray sky,
grayer clouds. Soon thick raindrops
will fall, knocking down
leaves while a swift wind sweeps them,
along with summer, away.

Somewhere Along the Way

are silhouetted against
a clear summer sky;
the lonesome old streets echo
with the sighing of the wind.
