A Way of Going On

 (c) R.L.K.

The slender branches
of the bare trees are swaying
in the morning breeze.
The road to the depot is
littered with brightly-colored
fallen leaves. Parting,
as always, is bittersweet,
and all the roads I
travel now are the same and
lead back to the distant past.

A Spring Evening

 (C) R.L.K.

The clouds have parted
and now the moonlight pours down,
making the raindrops,
still clinging to the branches
of the trees, shine like silver.

Winter Duo

 (C) R.L.K.

1. Such Weather

It's all wind and snow
swirling outside today, with
nearness and farness
merging beneath a white sky
almost too low to be sky.

2. Quite a While

Winter sunlight shines
down on the weathered roof of
a small town depot,
slowly melting last night's snow --
the next train is hours away!
